Cutest cousins I ever did see

I went through some pictures of Evelyn, Ellis, and Calvin a few weeks ago and realized I really need to get on the ball of trying to get a good picture of all three of them for my office/our fridges/just because.  It should be easy since they're three of the cutest kids around, but it's tricky to find them all with clean faces, smiling (or not crying), and upright.  And then get a picture that's not blurry WITH everyone's eyes open.

I made an honest effort this afternoon.  I'm not sure if I got what I'm looking for, but I got some nice shots that include silly faces, serious faces, and some odd poses.  At the very least, the kids have some album cover material if they ever decide to start up a folk band.

Shawl lady

I finished my shawl!  I marched through this project in about a week.  I had a few missteps in the very beginning and I'm glad I kept unraveling and restarting so this would turn out as nicely as I was imagining it.

Now it's a lovely dream come true.  The pattern, The Age of Brass and Steam, is one of my favorites because it's so easy to follow and allows for as much tinkering as you want.  Notes on that here.

It's large and soft and colorful.

I can't wear until the weather gets a lot cooler, but I plan to wear this thing draped over my shoulders all the time in the coming months.  I couldn't be happier with it.

Sometimes Cody tries to get candid pictures of me laughing or smiling. It doesn't usually turn out great, but I was super tickled while I modeling this.

And! I had a tiny bit left of yarn left, so I made some coasters for my office.  They are also soft and colorful and great.  For now, I can look use them under my cups of coffee and tea and look forward to my shawl.

Mamaw in Miam-uh

We took a weekend trip to visit the Oklahoma family last weekend.  It was something I've wanted to do forever, and also something I planned for maybe an hour before getting everything going.  But Evelyn was a champion at both traveling and visiting.  We had a wonderful time hugging and visiting.

I've been away for way too long, but I know I won't put off the trip again.  Weekend trips can be a little intense, but Evelyn's a great little car person and I'm not nearly as worried about these longer trips with her as I used to be.  And that's great because she'll be plenty happy to go back!

The cutest cousins in the world

My parents' church had their VBS the week before last, and we took our kids to it.  There was a lot of fun cousin time and church time.  I didn't take as many pictures as I wanted, and there a quite a few more blurry ones that didn't make the cut here.  But these are nice and I wanted to get them up here.

Friendly reminder that the little baby on the left is Calvin and the baby on the right is Dallas.  He's nearly 15 years old and around 6' tall.  Our kids creep around after him just like he used to toddle around with us.  Circle of life and caretaking and all that.
