Update: 32 weeks

I am 32 weeks pregnant!

I'm slow, I'm tired, the baby presses against my lungs and kicks my rib cage.  Her movements keep me up at night.  I have gained over 20 pounds and I have just 8 more weeks (or thereabouts) to go.

Overall, things feel pretty good.

I'm not being sarcastic.  I think I still look pretty cute, and the baby is still small enough to move and play in my belly.  Several times last week, people at work asked me how much longer I had to go and when I cheerfully replied "2 more months!" they looked confused and horrified.  I guess I was supposed to stay the size I was at 7 months and then deliver a measly 4-pounder after a 'pregnant-seeming' amount of time?  Psh.

I had my check-up yesterday and discovered that my blood pressure and weight gain were perfect.  My belly size is fine and the baby's heart rate is still somewhere around 130 beats per minute.  I immediately decided to text our family to let them know the baby and I were both perfect.

I finished reading a book about greener and cheaper baby-raising.

I bought a book about nursing.

I bought 2 more maternity shirts on sale yesterday and I'm wearing one right now.

This is what I read about the baby's development this week: "By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth." (Source.)

Cody and I cut out squares for a baby quilt.

AND!  I had my first baby shower Sunday!  Here are just a few pictures:

My Aunt Ginger (Mom's sister.  Can you tell?) and my cousin, Cassie.  Ginger also asked if I would last until March.  I told her I was going to quit in the last month and make someone else finish the baby.

Sisters.  And Leah.

Guest book.

Mom at her shower for me.  I wore her dress for my first shower.

The decor was perfect.
So perfect.

Dallas and I took care of the little Mt. Dews.

Cody's family was enthralled with the present-opening.  Or Mrs. Dicy was, anyway.

ATECA CAME!  Trust me, she was excited to be there.

Sara and Chad gave us Razorback clothes and a book about spelling!

And Dallas and Gil.

Lovely hostesses!

And Mr. Tommy.  I think I got about 15 hugs from him Sunday, so that was nice.

Dallas and I kind of matched!

Look at this cute little family!

Later, the dog curled up inside the flowerpot and watched us take things down through the window.

Guests were asked to bring books instead of cards to the shower, so the baby got quite a nice boost to her library!  We got some classics like Goodnight, Moon and Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel and Good Dog, Carl!, and new ones I'd never heard of like Olivia and the Babies and Life is Good at Grandma's (cough, Mrs. Dicy, cough).  She also got some cute little outfits and useful little odds and ends (I have 2 nasal aspirators now!  Woo hoo!) and sweet keepsakes and strollers.  It was all lovely and we were so thrilled and grateful.

In all of the excitement, I didn't have anyone take a picture of me from the side for this thirty-second week post.  But here's one I took on Saturday night when we had a Sam's club party to pick up shower supplies.

Hot mom.  Yes, I just typed that.

I'm actually wearing a size medium shirt in the picture above.

Yes, I think this little girl and I can keep growing just fine for just a little while longer.

Look at Chad in the background of the last picture in this post. He's holding up that fireman rain coat, ha.

I'm glad you had fun at your shower!

I like everything about this post! You are so cute pregnant! And a good pregnant lady too, not the gripey kind that makes everyone want to remain childless!

Ha! I knew Chad was in the picture, but I didn't know what he was doing! He's an expert creeper.

And thanks, Erin! I think I've had a mostly perfect pregnancy, so that really helps with things.
